John has been in the electrical trade since 1977, earned his Master Electrician license in 1993, and has done renewable-energy work in Minnesota since the early 1980s — two decades before most of today's solar companies existed. His work spans turnkey solar and wind electrical design, procurement, installation, and terminations for all phases of electrical construction, including DC circuits.
He served as the master electrician of record for a 138 MW solar project at North Branch — at the time, the largest solar project in Minnesota — and has worked on multiple 20 MW substations for community-based wind energy projects since 2002.
John co-founded iSolar Minnesota in 2019 with his nephew Ryan and launched Three Rivers Electric as iSolar's dedicated electrical division in 2025. He is the holding Master Electrician of record for both.
